MEASURING
AGE
Olive Trees are unique in how their age can be measured, the integrity of the tree does not have to be compromised.
The neck and the trunk of an Olive tree have a cumulative growth and thickening process over time that can be measured accurately. In this remarkable tree, the neck is like an immortal organ constantly renewing the trunks over time.
While the trunks can die, the neck never does. Always regenerating to keep the tree alive.
Over time through this constant process, the circumference of the neck gets greater and greater, and so through simple measurements. Olive trees can be determined through this circumference to have a minimum age.
